A board year… these days one of the most required elements on your CV. For many students this is a great driver to start such a year, but not for me. After four years within Asset, including two years at Asset | Strategy & Logistics, the pleasure and the personal development were making the difference for me to apply for a board year. Currently, I am the External Affairs Officer and I would like to share my experiences with you.
Serious business
As a board member of Asset | Strategy & Logistics you are in charge of a fast growing department of Asset. With the growing markets (and studies) of Supply Chain Management and Strategic Management there are much chances to take for an External Affairs Officer. This function gave me the opportunity to develop my formal skills and have close contact with dozens of companies, if not hundreds. But not only is the business side on the rise. As representative of Asset | Strategy & Logistics you are also in charge of supporting over 1500 students with their studies. Together with over 70 enthusiastic active members you can arrange study support, formal activities, but also informal and above all fun activities. The meetings, different types of people and the opportunities that I could take this year gave me a kick start in a (hopefully) upward trend of personal development.

Of course I am in the board this year and of course I have additional responsibilities, but most of all, this will become the best year of my life. The last eight months were really amazing and I am sure the next couple of months will be too. I will never forget what a close group of friends Asset | Strategy & Logistics is. This year we went Ice-dipping, participated in the Beer Olympics and even went to the middle of nowhere to eat Chinese food. And the year hasn’t even ended yet. Last year I joined the TRIP4You of Asset | Strategy & Logistics to Budapest, and in May we will go to Prague! I’m really looking forward to it! I really looked forward to all of these activities, because they are good by itself, but none of them would be as great without the giant group of friends that makes Asset | Strategy & Logistics to what she is: great, fun and with the best opportunities!
If I could give an advice to you as my fellow student, Asset | Strategy & Logistics is the department that made me the student that I am right now: ready to start with my master Supply Chain Management and jump into the world of business. So much growing in the best years of your life! I wouldn’t miss that if I were you. Asset | Strategy & Logistics always offers you the chance to join a committee of your own interests at any time. Perhaps you want to aim bigger and apply for the same amazing year as I experienced this year. If you want to become a board member of Asset | Strategy & Logistics, you can still apply until the 16th of May, so make sure you don’t miss out on this!
